Bobbi Brown Guava Rich Lip Color: it's still summer!

I know fall collections have now taken over our favorite stores, but hey, it's still summer, and I want to keep wearing my corals! An amazing product if you like color lips is Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color in Guava

It comes in a simple yet elegant black matte tube, and retails for $24. The shade is a vivid pink coral, a mix of pinky red and orange. Its brightness doesn't translate very well on the pictures, so believe me, it's a pretty and bright coral that screams summer!

The texture of this rouge is creamy without feeling oily, and it applies perfectly opaque in one swipe. It has a satin finish without visible shimmer on the lips: you'll notice a very subtle gold shimmer on the above picture of the lipstick itself, that I only discovered while editing the photo! It doesn't show up on the lips but it certainly contibutes to making this shade so vibrant.

Direct sunlight and shade

The rich, creamy texture make this lipstick very comfortable, and somehow it still manages to feel lightweight while helping keep my lips moisturized. I wouldn't say it's really very hydrating, but it does absolutely not dry out my lips.

Direct sunlight, shade, artificial light

The color doesn't get into fine lines on or around the lips, but it transfers a lot. You can easily spot your glass in a party of 100 with the mark you will leave on it! Despite leaving souvenirs of your kisses to everything/everyone you touch, it stays on for long hours, fading beautifully but leaving a nice colorful stain on your pout.

Overall, I think this is an amazing formula in a great summery shade. Unlike many summer lipsticks, this one is not glossy, sparkly or sheer, it's bold, vibrant and rich! I love it and I'll make sure to buy other shades (I'm very tempted by Nectar).

  1. That is such a beautiful color!! I'll have to add it to the my "must swatch" list!! Too bad about how much it transfers, but with such a pretty lip I might be able to put up with it :-)

    1. Absolutely! I didn't include a full face picture because I don't do much makeup these days in this heat, but yes, it really brightens the whole face!
