A quick haul post with mostly samples!

Santa was nice with me this year, he brought a Sephora gift card I used to buy a little gorgeousness from Guerlain, the Ecrin 4 couleurs shadow palette in Les Fumés. I received it too late in the afternoon to make decent pictures, but I can't wait to show its beauty to you!

I also melted down inside when I saw swatches of MAC Hot Chocolate lipstick from the Après Chic collection, and decided to buy it online from Nordstrom.

See, buying online has a lot of advantages in the USA, more than in France. Here, you rarely get samples when you buy in stores, but you always do in France. They're often just perfume samples, or skincare that's not adapted to your needs, but you get something
In the US, I've never ever received a sample when purchasing beauty products from Sephora, Ulta and the like. Where's the love??
So the fact that I can choose samples that I'll actually enjoy testing, plus the cashback I get from Ebates make me want to order online rather than purchase my beauty products in store. Too bad, cause I like browsing in beauty stores!

Anyway, Sephora sample selection was pretty poor when I ordered, with mostly perfume, but I got a Lancôme Visionnaire serum, plus Clean Rain and Gucci Guilty for Men fragrances. I also used a code to get a mini Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal
From Nordstrom, I got packettes of Kiehl's Rosa Antartica eye balm, Prevage Face Advanced Anti-Aging serum and Mai Couture Blush Papier. It was my very first experience with Nordstrom website, but with free shipping with no minimum amount and really cool samples, I'll definitely be back!

  1. I completely agree with you--I have only received samples when purchasing in-stores a few times in my ENTIRE life. Even when I ask for samples, there is usually a lot of attitude and/or eye-rolling involved. I will never understand it. First of all, I like to think I spend a decent amount of money at the makeup counters. And secondly, I LOVE samples and a good chunk of the time, I will return and purchase a full-size if given a sample of something good that I like. Where is the love, indeed!! SA's are SUCH sample-nazis these days! :P

    1. Yeah I don't understand why samples are considered "rewards" when they should just be a tool to increase sales. As in, you'd want as many people as possible to try a product so they would like it and buy it full-size.

I hate begging for a tiny packette of skincare that the counter got for free so that I can try a product before I spend the big bucks to buy it. Isn't that just a normal thing to do?? I don't wanna buy Prevage skincare or La Mer or something like that before I make sure I don't have allergies or adverse reactions to their formula! Would they rather have me show up at the counter in my PJs in the morning to get the cream applied on my face??
