Master Smoky by Eyestudio: really Maybelline??

I have a ton of pictures and notes waiting to be turned into blog posts, but today I decided to skip the waiting list and tell you about the very last makeup product I bought from the drugstore, Maybelline Master Smoky in Blue Blaze. I couldn't wait any longer because this has to be the worst product I have tried in the past 6 months. It's so terrible that I'm still shocked a large brand like Maybelline could release it to the market. What the bleep were they thinking??

So this thing is supposed to create easy smoky eye looks with a single product, a liner with a wide tip and a smudger on the other side. Sounds great, doesn't it? And it could've been great: just line your eye thickly and blend the line with the spongy tip for a quick and easy smoky fix. Count me in!

Except that with this Master Smoky, everything went wrong. The liner is not very pigmented and it applies unevenly and even patchy. If you use the sponge tip right after applying the liner, it just wipes it all away, only leaving a very uneven grayish muddy veil of color with vague blue shimmer (and yes I tried to blend with a very light hand). Then, if you try to apply more liner to build up the color, it gets horribly patchy, sticking to parts of the lid and not leaving a trace on others. But if you wait a little longer to smudge, giving more time to the liner to set, then it won't budge at all, and you're not even able to blend out the edges. Cherry on the mud pie, I end up with with flakes of it on my under-eye area within a couple of hours after application.

Left: liner alone
Right: blended with the sponge tip smudger side

Overall: this product is just so bad it's unusable, and I want my $8 back!!
